Eating Disorder Clinical Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

We are now accepting applications for the 2026-2027 training year!

Fellowship description. The UCSF Eating Disorders Program provides comprehensive, evidence-based, culturally-humble medical and psychiatric care for individuals with eating disorders (up to age 25) and their families. The fellow will work with our multidisciplinary team and will conduct inpatient and outpatient assessments, evidence-based individual and family treatments (CBT-E, FBT), and groups (e.g., FBT and ARFID caregiver workshops). Consistent with requirements for licensure in California and other states, the fellow will receive a minimum of four hours of weekly supervision and will participate in weekly case conferences and a biweekly training seminar. We also encourage fellows to pursue elective activities in support of their individual career goals, with the option of utilizing up to four hours of protected time per week for elective activities (e.g., contributing to research endeavors, co-leading group run by another clinical program). The UCSF Eating Disorders Program is highly collaborative, with faculty and learners engaging in a variety of clinical, research, teaching, supervisory, and service-related roles in our department and beyond.

Requirements. We are seeking applicants who will have completed a predoctoral psychology internship and doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology prior to the start date, have experience in evidence-based interventions, and are committed to serving youth and families from a range of backgrounds. We recognize that training in eating disorders is specialized and that many potential candidates may not have had extensive experience in this area. Our team is committed to providing training in eating disorders assessment and treatment as needed, provided the candidate possesses a solid foundation in other evidence-based interventions. Therefore, applicants interested in eating disorders are encouraged to apply even without prior specialized training in eating disorders.

The postdoctoral fellowship is open to all who meet academic, professional, and interest criteria. The selection process for new trainees is in compliance with the State of California Proposition 209, UC policies, PRIDE values, and federal laws. At this time, only applicants who are US citizens or those who hold permanent resident status in the US will be considered. The department strongly encourages applicants from all backgrounds to apply. UCSF does not use race, gender, sex, or other protected categories or proxies for protected categories in the selection process.
