Improving Access to Evidence-Based Treatment for Adults with Eating Disorders on Public Insurance
Erin C. Accurso, PhD & Ellen Fitzsimmons-Craft, PhD
This project will refine and test an evidence-based online intervention for eating disorders (EDs) in adults with public insurance—a greatly underserved population, which would be suitable for widespread dissemination. This study aims to increase accessibility, acceptability, appropriateness, and affordability of EBIs for individuals with EDs served in public health care settings, who are at high risk for ED-related health disparities.
Results from our initial needs assessment indicate high relevance and interest in an online ED intervention, especially given difficulties accessing evidence-based care. Important adaptations were made to the program to increase accessibility and diverse representation throughout the program content. The feasibility trial of the adapted program is currently underway.
