Will insurance cover this program?

UCSF’s billing office provides an insurance screening in order to verify and interpret your coverage. You will also undergo a financial consultation with us in order to review your financial responsibility to the program. The UCSF Eating Disorders- Intensive Family Treatment Program is fairly new to insurance companies; as a result, insurance coverage will vary. Regardless of coverage, all patients will need to provide insurance information before they are admitted to the program. If appropriate, UCSF will submit a claim on your behalf. Please note that our program is considered "facility", so the patient cannot submit charges him or herself. Coverage is sometimes prevented when insurance plans have certain limitations, such as exclusions for eating disorders. Many families decide to self-pay for services, or seek resources within their extended family.
